Our founding pastor, Monsignor Moylan began the first Mass of Christ the King parish by praying “Introibo ad altare Dei” – “I will go to the altar of God”. On Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 5pm, it is my privilege, as the eighth pastor of the Cathedral, to invite you to the Mass celebrating the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Cathedral and school. Archbishop Gregory, Bishop Zarama and six additional Bishops will join the priests of the Cathedral as we “go to the altar of God” in thanksgiving and celebration of our parish and school.
This special Mass will be followed by a grand reception in the Hyland Center gym. A group of dedicated parishioners have been hard at work for months, planning the transformation of the gym into a wonderful space for hospitality surrounded by the history of the parish and school.
All parishioners and their families are invited to attend both the Mass and reception. Seating for the Mass will be on a first come, first served basis with overflow space in Kenny Hall. We will move the regular Saturday 4 pm Mass to Kenny Hall so that the Cathedral will be available for early seating.
As we continue to celebrate our seventy-five year history, I want to thank all those involved in these celebrations. I also want to thank each of you for being a part of this parish, continuing the legacy and commitment of our founding families. We will celebrate our past knowing, with God’s help, our future is bright.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Frank McNamee, Pastor
