Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults/
RCIA
Welcome!
Are you seeking answers to questions about becoming Catholic? Or are you baptized Catholic and want to receive the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation? If so, we invite you to journey with us in RCIA.
How do I get started?
Contact Bernadette Flowers, Associate Director of Adult Faith Formation at 404-267-3690 or bflowers@ctking.com to discuss your next steps.
Do I have to make a commitment to become Catholic before I begin the process?
You do not have to make a commitment to become Catholic prior to the start of the process. The RCIA journey begins with your desire to learn more about becoming Catholic. You will have a chance to have your questions answered and participate in the faith journey with others inquirers.
When does the process begin?
We have Inquiry sessions once a month all year long in the Board Room at 6:30 pm. They are usually the 4th Monday of the month. Please see the weekly bulletin for dates. Adult seekers are invited to attend these “no obligation” inquiry sessions where we share our journeys in faith and answer any questions or concerns.
Adults who have not been baptized as well as adults who have been baptized in other faith traditions are welcome to participate in the RCIA process. The formal RCIA process begins the Opening Retreat and Rite of Acceptance and Welcome on Saturday, September 12, 2020 and continues to meet on Sunday from 10:15 am to 11:45 am in Conference Room 1. The sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
We also have a summer RCIA for those baptized in another faith tradition and confirmation class for those adults who have been baptized Catholic and have received first communion and wish to be confirmed in the Catholic Church. The Summer RCIA process begins Saturday, May 16, 2020 with the Opening Retreat and Rite of Welcome and continues to meet on Sunday mornings from 10:15 am to 11:45 am in Conference Room 1. The sacraments are celebrated following the Closing Retreat at the 5:00 pm Vigil Mass on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
What is the RCIA Process?
Throughout the history of Christianity, people of all faiths have found their way to the Catholic Church. While each person’s journey is as unique as the individual themselves, all are drawn to the one God and for the same purpose – to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults offers a program of faith formation, discipleship and fellowship for adults 18 years and older that will prepare them for full initiation/communion into the Catholic Church at Easter.
How do I get started?
