Our Mission
Our mission is to create a joyful community of growing disciples in love with Christ and His Church. This is able to happen because of Catholic young adults responding to their baptismal call by evangelizing the youth of our community. We are looking for young Catholics who:
- Have a passion for Christ and His Church
- Have a desire to share this passion with teens
- Are committed to a life as a growing disciple of Christ
Core Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Continually grow in your own relationship with God and maintain a daily prayer life
- Attend Mass each Sunday
- Provide a lived witness of a Christian lifestyle in and outside of CTK Young Church events
- Provide a joyful, welcoming environment to the teens
- Meet the teens right where they are and serve as mentors / build relationships with them
- Facilitate and participate in activities and games
- Co-lead small group discussions based on the night’s theme with a high school teen leader or another young adult
- Lead small group prayer
- Arrive early (4:45pm) to pray together as a team and get ready to welcome teens!
- Help clean up and attend team debrief (6:45-7pm)
- Prepare for Sunday night events by reading and following up on emails / communications
- Maintain an openness to other opportunities as presented (i.e. giving testimony or messages, helping staff retreats and trips, attending youth sporting and performance events, meeting them for coffee or pizza, etc.)
Middle School Core (6-8th Grade Leaders)
Middle School Core members are committed to evangelizing the middle school youth in our parish. Middle School Ministry is our Sunday experience for 6th-8th graders, and by joining Middle School Core, you commit to leading and journeying with a group of middle schoolers throughout the year. The time commitment for Middle School Core is:
- 4:45-7PM from September through May
- Optional commitment includes middle school chool overnight retreats, and core social events
High School Core (9-12th Grade Leaders)*
High School Core members are committed to evangelizing the 9th-12th Graders in our parish on Sundays at High School Ministry nights. By joining our High School Core team, you commit to leading and journeying with a group of gender-specific 9th-12th grade teens throughout the year on Sundays. The time commitment is:
- 4:45-7PM from September through May
- Optional commitment includes high school overnight retreats and Core social events
*We also have an opportunity for High School Core members to serve on Wednesday nights from 7-8:30pm ministering to teens seeking to dive deeper through a Bible study. The Wednesday night Core team is usually reserved for returning Core members.
