The Cathedral of Christ the King (CTK) is a thriving parish serving over 6,500 families in Atlanta, GA.  The Cathedral was founded in 1936 and became the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Atlanta in 1956.  Currently, Christ the King serves its parish community through three daily weekday masses, nine weekend masses, and over 100 ministries.

Director of Facilities (Full-Time)

The Director of Facilities oversees a staff of eight full-time and three part-time employees responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all campus buildings, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, control systems, security systems, emergency systems and campus grounds.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop a strategy and annual plan for the parish and school campus in coordination with the Rector of Cathedral, Director of Operations, and Principal, including review of existing maintenance and service contracts, upcoming planned repairs or upgrades, and projects as needed.
• Negotiation and oversight of maintenance, landscaping, and cleaning contracts.
• Establish and monitor preventative maintenance programs to keep building systems—such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing—functioning optimally.
• Establish an annual operating and capital expense budget for CTK and CKS. Manage the budget throughout the year. Ensure that all invoices for maintenance and repair are accurate and processed in a timely fashion.
• Obtain proposals/quotes and vet potential vendors for repairs and projects. Ensure that all necessary paperwork (W-9, Certificate of Insurance) are completed for all vendors prior to repairs or project commencement.
• Ensure that facilities staff are scheduled appropriately to support all campus events.
• Oversee all contractors that work on the campus. Ensure that they have the appropriate background screening and are supervised while on campus.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate facilities staff, ensuring high performance and clear communication across teams with an emphasis on following safety protocols.
• Coordinate across departments throughout the year to understand upcoming events and support needs, especially around busy times: back-to-school, Christmas, Easter, summer work.
• Participate in long-range planning and any future construction needs.
• Attend and participate in weekly Director’s meeting at CTK to ensure facilities department is aware of all upcoming events and support. Attend and participate in weekly administration meetings at CKS with same role.
• Attend staff meetings and others as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
• Bachelor’s degree, or significant work experience, in Facilities Management, Engineering or Business
• Five+ years of facility management experience
• Experience with various facilities software systems such as access control, security cameras, mechanical controls
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Team work and collaboration
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, work independently and meet deadlines

Head Sacristan (Part-Time)

The Head Sacristan is a part-time position that collaborates with the Cathedral Pastor, Liturgy Director and Liturgy Team Leaders in implementing the mission of the parish. They ensure all liturgical materials are available for the Priest and Liturgy Team Leaders. The Sacristan is a member of the Liturgy Department and works under the supervision of the Director of Liturgy. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all liturgical items are available for each liturgy on the Cathedral campus.
  • Ordering supplies and equipment for use during Mass.
  • Ensuring all vestments, vessels, and liturgical items are properly maintained and clean.
  • Oversee volunteer(s) to assist with cleaning and maintenance of supplies (e.g., linens).
  • Repair or replace items as needed.
  • Ensure Holy Water fonts and oil candles are stocked for daily use.
  • Oversee other sacristans
  • Organize storage of vestments and supplies.
  • Maintain inventory for items borrowed by the Archdiocese or other parishes.
  • Liaise with the Archdiocese as needed for Archdiocesan events requiring Cathedral liturgical equipment.
  • Attend staff meetings and others as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
