The Cathedral’s “CTK Lions” recreation program is a ministry designed to help provide an outlet to recreational sports and physical activities for both youth and adults. The Cathedral’s recreation ministry program is available to all parishioners and non-parishioners. Follow the various links below for various program connections.

FALL SPORTS

Soccer

Our soccer program teaches basic, fundamental skills at an early age with intramural and skills training. As youth grow with character and knowledge they will transfer to league games with CMSL soccer league and play against other parishes throughout the metropolitan Atlanta area.

Volleyball

We offer volleyball for league play and pre/post season training. Those interested in volleyball training will be introduced to beginner and intermediate volleyball skills and techniques which may be later used in league games versus other parishes in the archdiocese.

Basketball for youth of all ages engages in intramural or league practices and games throughout their season.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS

2018-19

Band
The focus will cover core band instruments: flute, clarinet, trumpet, sax, percussion, and trombone. This class, customized for different ability levels, will provide a strong base in instrumental performance, building both individual and group ensemble skills. It will reinforce music reading skills, basic theory and instrument care.

Chess
Provides students the opportunity to learn in a chess club environment and to help foster good sportsmanship among the growing number of chess players. Beginners to advanced participants are welcome and trained at their level of play.

Dance
Studio Go is a mobile dance studio providing a fun, upbeat, and positive program. In addition to teaching dance, they provide a nurturing environment where kids can be themselves.

Drama Club
Through a fun and relaxing atmosophere, youth in 5th – 8th grade learn to express themselves and explore the basics of performance and teamwork. The program includes a fall play and spring musical. We will also take field trips to see performances!

Fencing
Along with innovative fitness classes for youth and adults. Fencing provides a fun way to stay fit and / or get in shape as an anaerobic and aerobic fitness, helps losing weight, improved posture and cardiovascular fitness and endurance to name a few.

Jr. Robotics Program
Students will utilize original Lego® materials and other popular resources to acquire essential skills in a creativity-focused social-learning environment.

Lego – Bricks 4 Kids
Students build a new model each week using our proprietary kits and designs and Lego® Bricks. Themes such as animals, space, and machines provide variety and ensure a high level of interest. We encourage and celebrate creativity. On the last day, each child takes home his/her creatively designed mini-fig.

Multi-Sport
Playground games that went the way of the dinasour. Dodgeball, Kickball, Captuer the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, T-Ball…you name it, we play it. Children will learn about sportsmanship and fairplay as it applies to the games and life. Get some exercise, have fun, smile, laugh, be challenged in a respectful-structured atmosphere.

STEM Lab
Each week students will be engaged in topics such as describing objects as alive or not alive, comparing acids and bases, experimenting with forces, learning what role magnets have on earth, and much more. Students will conduct experiments and engage in multi-sensory activities to help provide them with first-hand knowledge experiences.

Tennis
This fast-paced, mobile tennis program offers a station-based teaching method where children are grouped by age and ability. All necessary equipment is provided. This curriculum-based program was developed by USPTA Youth Development Specialist and PTR Professional, Mike Gunsallus who created the program to be fun and challenging for the children while being offered in a safe and positive environment.
