Are you seeking answers to questions about the Catholic faith?
Have you considered joining the Catholic Church?
Or are you a baptized Catholic and want to receive the sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation?
If so, we invite you to journey with us in RCIA.
How do I get started?
Contact Bernadette Flowers, Associate Director of Adult Faith Formation at 404-267-3690 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We also have Inquiry Sessions once a month all year long in Kenny Hall at 7:00 PM. They are usually the 4th Monday of the month. Please click here to check the Cathedral Calendar here for the dates. You are invited to attend these “no obligation” inquiry sessions where we share our journeys in faith and answer any questions or concerns.
Do I have to make a commitment to become Catholic before I begin the process?
You do not have to make a commitment to become Catholic prior to the start of the process. The RCIA journey begins with your desire to learn more about becoming Catholic. You will have a chance to have your questions answered and participate in the faith journey with others inquirers.
When does the process begin?
The formal RCIA process begins on September 17, 2019, and continues to meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in Kenny Hall. The sacraments are celebrated at the Easter Vigil on April 11, 2020.
What if I’m already a baptized Christian?
We have an Adult Confirmation class that meets on Sundays at 10:30 AM beginning April 28, 2019 for those adults who have been (1) baptized Catholic, have received first communion and wish to be confirmed in the Catholic Church on Sunday, June 9, 2019.
We also have a summer RCIA class that meets on Sundays at 5:00 PM for adults who have been baptized in another faith tradition, are very familiar with Christianity, have been attending Mass for at least a year and desire to come into full communion with the Catholic Church. The summer class begins on June 2, 2019, and ends on August 25, 2019.
What is the RCIA Process?
Throughout the history of Christianity, people of all faiths have found their way to the Catholic Church. While each person’s journey is as unique as the individual themselves, all are drawn to the one God and for the same purpose – to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults offers a program of faith formation, discipleship and fellowship for adults 18 years and older that will prepare them for full initiation/communion into the Catholic Church at Easter.
