Ministries are divided into the following categories:
KNOW | To know is learning to trust God.
We believe that the more you study the faith and encounter God in prayer, the more you learn to trust God with all you have. Carve out time in your day to nurture your relationship with God and consider spending time with others reading the scriptures and growing in faith.
20/30 SOMETHINGS
The 20/30 Somethings is a vibrant community for young adults with regular spiritual, social, and service events. First Friday of the month at 8 PM is Pack the Cathedral, an hour of prayer and adoration in from of the Blessed Sacrament. Third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in Kenny Hall is our Discipleship Night, an evening of discussion and study of the faith.
ADORATION GUARDIAN
Perpetual Adoration is a devotion continuing without interruption 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Guardians commit to a specific day and time (one hour) every week to visit with Jesus in the chapel.
BIBLE STUDIES
Come study the bible and enjoy fellowship with other men or women of the parish.
BELIEVES
Believes is a once a month speaker series the second Tuesday of each month from 7:30 - 8:30 AM hosted in the Ministry Offices to promote dialogue around integrating faith in the work life for both business men and business women.
LEGION OF MARY
Through dedication to the corporal and spiritual works of mercy and under the patronage of our Blessed Mother, members share the light of Christ within the parish community and beyond. Weekly meetings (Mondays at 1 PM) focus on prayer and the study of the teachings of the church.
ROSARY GROUP
Prays the rosary together on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM in the Cathedral and has a monthly meeting and devotion on the first Saturday after the 8:10 AM Mass.
ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE TOASTMASTERS CLUB
Toastmasters is a friendly and supportive group that teaches public speaking and leadership skills. Join anytime. Tuesdays at 7:30 PM in Conference Room 1.
LOVE | To love is learning to follow Christ with others.
In the heart of our ministry is our calling from Jesus to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength in addition to loving our neighbors as ourselves. We believe the best way to follow Jesus with others is through forming community and sharing our faith with each other.
CATHEDRAL WOMEN'S CLUB
The women’s club provides opportunities for women of all ages to connect, learn and enjoy time with others from CTK. Join us for any event throughout the year.
CATHEDRAL MEN'S CLUB
Year-round series of events are offered to provide the men of our parish the opportunity to fellowship with one another, develop friendships, expand professional networks,
discover ways to grow spiritually, and learn how to become more involved in the parish community.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The Knights of Columbus brotherhood provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.
PRAYER CHAIN
As a link in the prayer chain you will be one of many who will be praying for the spiritual, physical, emotional and financial needs of our parish community.
SMALL GROUPS
Groups consist of about 6 couples or 12 individuals who get together weekly for a couple of hours of social time, study, and prayer. Groups are offered for women, men, co-ed, and married couples. New groups are formed in January, May, and September.
SENIOR ADULT LUNCHEONS
Monthly luncheons are a great way for seniors to come together. Volunteers are welcome to assist in serving on our monthly luncheon team.
YOUNG MARRIEDS
We create fellowship and discipleship opportunities for couples who are young, married (or even engaged to be married), and want to grow in community with other young married couples.
SERVE | To serve is learning to live beyond ourselves.
Service begins with a heart of generosity, not just with money and time, but with our love, appreciation, praise, virtue, and encouragement. A beautiful way to thank God is by using our gifts to be His hands and feet, continuing His healing, feeding, teaching, and serving.
Liturgical Ministries
CATHEDRAL FLOWER GUILD
The Cathedral Flower Guild is responsible for planning the floral adornments for feast days, holidays and other celebrations throughout the liturgical year. Donations for Altar flowers can be made in honor or in memorial of loved one.
LECTORS
Lectors proclaim the Word of God at the Mass in a clear, persuasive way and with interpretive emphasis so that the faithful may discover anew God’s Word, alive in our assembly. Trainings are offered every couple of months.
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION
EMHCs are a vital part of every Mass. Over 100 EMHCs volunteer every weekend to communicate the Precious Body and Blood to our parishioners and visitors. Trainings are offered every couple of months.
USHERS
Ushers greet, welcome, and assist the faithful as they gather for worship. They assist in seating parishioners, help at offertory, appoint and assist git bearers, and direct the Communion procession.
WEDDING GUILD
This group directs rehearsals and weddings as an aid to the wedding party and celebrant. The Apprentice Guild assists members of the full-time Guild in their ministry and is open to all high school students.
ALTAR SERVERS
Youth altar servers, boys and girls, assist the clergy in the liturgy including weekend Masses, funerals and weddings.
Music Ministries
CATHEDRAL CHOIR
Sunday 10:30 AM Mass
Rehearsals every Wednesday night, September through May. New members are invited to audition.
SCHOLA NOVA
Sunday 12:00 PM Mass
This choir supports the liturgy with a mix of contemporary and traditional song. Rehearsals Wednesdays, 6:30 - 7:20 pm.
CATHEDRAL ENSEMBLE
Sunday 6:00 PM Mass
Rehearsals are every Thursday night, September through May. The group sings a variety of styles using keyboard, guitar, electric bass, percussion and various string and wind instruments. New members are invited to audition.
SUMMER ENSEMBLE
Sunday 6:00 PM Mass
A non-auditioned, limited commitment ensemble which supports the liturgy during the summer months. Members may sing for any length of time from one week to three months.
HISPANIC CHOIR
This is a dynamic group that joyfully leads the Spanish language liturgy in traditional and contemporary music from various Hispanic cultures. Men and women are welcome to join.
CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Open to choristers in Kindergarten and older. The Cathedral operates three choirs: a Girls Choir, a Boys Choir, and a co-ed preparatory choir.
Outreach and Pastoral Care Ministries
ADOPT-A-FAMILY
Help provide a Merry Christmas for up to 400 needy families in our parish and greater community. Families, groups and individuals can sponsor a small or large family.
CARD MINISTRY
This ministry honors and remembers parishioners on special occasions. Cards are sent to Senior Adults for birthdays, Valentines Day, Easter and Christmas. Get well cards and personal notes are sent to those experiencing health challenges. Bereavement cards and personal notes are sent to families of the deceased as well. Volunteers always welcome.
COMMUNION TO THE SICK
Volunteer to bring Holy Communion to the sick at Piedmont Hospital, Shepherd Center, Assisted Living Facilities, or to private homes in our parish! In bringing Holy Communion to the Sick, you minister to the whole person – body, mind, and soul – as you answer Jesus’ calls to visit the sick.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Each year the Christ the King and Habitat for Humanity work in partnership as agents of God’s justice by working to provide a clean, safe affordable home to a family with limited financial means.
FUNERAL RECEPTION TEAM
Join the team that offers a place for families and friends to gather for fellowship, to share, reminisce and remember the life of their loved one and their happy times together.
KNITTING/ PRAYER SHAWL
Shawls and blankets are gifts given to those in need of comfort such as those dying, those who have lost a loved one, those going through a divorce, etc.
MUST SUMMER LUNCH MAKING
In June and July, we prepare over 2,000 lunches for hungry children in the Atlanta metro area.
PRAYER CHAIN
The CTK Prayer Chain allows us to pray for our brothers and sisters when they are unable to pray for themselves or when they need our support to pray with them and for them. As a link in the prayer chain you will be one of many who will be praying for the spiritual, physical, emotional and financial needs of our parish community. ANYONE can join the CTK Prayer Chain!
RCIA SPONSOR
Sponsors are a supportive friend for someone who has chosen to become a member of the Catholic Church. Sponsors are needed for the summer program (June - Aug) and full year (Sept - Easter).
RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY
The goal of this respect life ministry is to empower our parishioners to be champions of the intrinsic value of every life. We work with the Archdiocese Pro-Life Office to increase awareness of pro-life issues.
SANDWICH MAKING FOR SHELTERS
From November through March, we make sandwiches for the Shrine Shelter.
SNACK BAG MAKING
Each month Christ the King provides more than 200 snack bags to hungry individuals who come to our doors. Please help us feed the hungry by making snack bags or donating nonperishable, individual pull top cans of a main dish items (such as chili, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, beef stew or ravioli) and juice or milk box drinks for the snack bags.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
We help our friends and neighbors by providing financial, material, educational and spiritual support to those in need regardless of background or faith and collaborates with other organizations to empower people to achieve self-sufficiency.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministry is a Christ-centered, confidential, one to one, listening ministry. Stephen Ministers are lay parishioners trained extensively in the skills of Christian care-giving and commissioned to minister to other parishioners whom are experiencing a personal crisis (divorce, job loss, depression, death, illness, etc.).
SWEET SAINTS
Every month, over 100 volunteers sign up to bake at least 2 dozen breakfast items or sweet treats and bring them to CTK for various ministry events.
Volunteer Opportunities with Children and Youth
PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION
Parish School of Religion (PSR) is our Sunday School program for children ages 3 - 5th grade. We have about 500 children who participate and are always in need of adults willing to share this enthusiasm with our parish children using a structured curriculum. Time commitment is 1 hour a week, September - May.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Teams of volunteers take children, ages 4 - 3rd grade, from the Cathedral during the 9:00 AM Sunday Masses following the opening rite of Mass for a 20 minute session. Volunteers lead the children in song, share a couple of Mass readings (child friendly), activities, explanation, and prayer. Volunteers serve on teams. Time commitment is 1 weekend per month per team.
NURSERY
Serve young children (between 6 months and 4 ½ years) whose families are attending Sunday Masses at 9:00, 10:30, Noon, and 1:30.
YOUNG CHURCH CORE
Young adults offer their time and talent to share God’s love with high- and middle-schoolers.
