Ministries are divided into the following categories:
KNOW | To know is learning to trust God.
We believe that the more you study the faith and encounter God in prayer, the more you learn to trust God with all you have. Carve out time in your day to nurture your relationship with God and consider spending time with others reading the scriptures and growing in faith.
The 20/30 Somethings is a vibrant community for young adults with regular spiritual, social, and service events. First Friday of the month at 8 PM is Pack the Cathedral, an hour of prayer and adoration in from of the Blessed Sacrament. Third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM in Kenny Hall is our Discipleship Night, an evening of discussion and study of the faith.
LOVE | To love is learning to follow Christ with others.
In the heart of our ministry is our calling from Jesus to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength in addition to loving our neighbors as ourselves. We believe the best way to follow Jesus with others is through forming community and sharing our faith with each other.
Meet other parishioners for coffee after all morning Masses on Sundays, August - May, in the ministry offices. Volunteers are also needed.
SERVE | To serve is learning to live beyond ourselves.
Service begins with a heart of generosity, not just with money and time, but with our love, appreciation, praise, virtue, and encouragement. A beautiful way to thank God is by using our gifts to be His hands and feet, continuing His healing, feeding, teaching, and serving.
Liturgical Ministries
Music Ministries
Open to 35 choristers in grades 4 through 8. Interested boys and girls should arrange a registration appointment before enrolling. Rehearsals are from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursdays, via Zoom. Due to COVID restrictions, large group singing must be ceased until we can ensure a safe and socially distant environment for music-making. Individual lessons will take the place of group singing for the time being until choir resumes in-person.
Cherub and Preparatory Virtual Choir is a K-4th grade online choir experience. Through a combination of live Zoom gatherings, YouTube rehearsals, and emailed audio training tracks, young choristers will learn church choir songs and (with some help from their parents) record their voices to hear a final product put together by the music department.
Outreach & Pastoral Care Ministries
CARD MINISTRY This ministry honors and remembers parishioners on special occasions. Cards are sent to Senior Adults for birthdays, Valentines Day, Easter and Christmas. Get well cards and personal notes are sent to those experiencing health challenges. Bereavement cards and personal notes are sent to families of the deceased as well. Volunteers always welcome. COMMUNION TO THE SICK Volunteer to bring Holy Communion to the sick at Piedmont Hospital, Shepherd Center, Assisted Living Facilities, or to private homes in our parish! In bringing Holy Communion to the Sick, you minister to the whole person – body, mind, and soul – as you answer Jesus’ calls to visit the sick. PRAYER CHAIN The CTK Prayer Chain allows us to pray for our brothers and sisters when they are unable to pray for themselves or when they need our support to pray with them and for them. As a link in the prayer chain you will be one of many who will be praying for the spiritual, physical, emotional and financial needs of our parish community. ANYONE can join the CTK Prayer Chain! SNACK BAG MAKING Each month Christ the King provides more than 200 snack bags to hungry individuals who come to our doors. Please help us feed the hungry by making snack bags or donating nonperishable, individual pull top cans of a main dish items (such as chili, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, beef stew or ravioli) and juice or milk box drinks for the snack bags. STEPHEN MINISTRY Stephen Ministry is a Christ-centered, confidential, one to one, listening ministry. Stephen Ministers are lay parishioners trained extensively in the skills of Christian care-giving and commissioned to minister to other parishioners whom are experiencing a personal crisis (divorce, job loss, depression, death, illness, etc.). |
Volunteer Opportunities with Children & Youth
Parish School of Religion (PSR) is our Sunday School program for children ages 3 - 5th grade. We have about 500 children who participate and are always in need of adults willing to share this enthusiasm with our parish children using a structured curriculum. Time commitment is 1 hour a week, September - May.
Teams of volunteers take children, ages 4 - 3rd grade, from the Cathedral during the 9:00 AM Sunday Masses following the opening rite of Mass for a 20 minute session. Volunteers lead the children in song, share a couple of Mass readings (child friendly), activities, explanation, and prayer. Volunteers serve on teams. Time commitment is 1 weekend per month per team.
