MUST Summer Lunch Program
The MUST Ministries Summer Lunch Program provides nutritious lunches each summer to thousands of children in the metro Atlanta area. For many children, summer vacation begins a period of food insecurity. Many children are uncertain when they will receive a meal because their primary food resource, the school cafeteria, is closed.
Due to COVID-19, MUST is expanding its program this summer to provide supplemental groceries to help families fill their grocery needs. Christ the King is teaming up with MUST to help these families during this time of uncertainty.
Here are the ways you can help us feed children in need this summer:
1. Make a monetary gift.
2. Collect and donate the following items in a paper or reusable grocery bag. Drop off your items in the Hyland Center on the following dates between 8am and 11am: June 8, June 22, July 6 and July 20. Volunteers will be curbside in the alley between the Hyland Center and the Greenspace to collect your donations straight from your car.
Items to Donate:
Pasta – 1 box Pasta Sauce – 1 jar
Mac & Cheese – 2 boxes Canned Corn – 2 cans
Canned Fruit – 2 cans Crackers – 1 box
Tortillas (corn or flour) – 1 package Cereal – 1 box

History of the Lunch Program at CTK
CTK parishioner Carol Hunt was instrumental in beginning the program at MUST Ministries 18 years ago. CTK parishioners Betsy Orr and Kathleen Swann began the Cathedral’s inaugural participation with 200 lunches made in their basements. The next summer, they spearheaded our parish making almost 2,000 lunches. Summer 2020 will mark the Cathedral’s 12th year of participation in the MUST Summer Lunch Program and during that time, CTK has provided approximately 31,000 lunches. Providing 1,500 lunches each week costs $2,000 a week for each of the 8 weeks of June and July. Your generosity is appreciated.
