The Cathedral of Christ the King (CTK) is a thriving parish serving close to 6,000 families in Atlanta, GA. The Cathedral, founded in 1936, became the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Atlanta in 1956. Currently, CTK serves the parish celebrating three daily masses Monday – Friday, ten weekend masses, and offers over 100 ministries.

High School Youth Ministry and Confirmation Coordinator

The High School Youth Ministry and Confirmation Coordinator is a full time position that supports the High School Ministry program (grades 9th – 12th grade). This position reports to the Director of Religious Education. CTK’s High School Ministry program typically operates on Sunday evenings following the 4:00 PM Life Teen Mass. Programming starts after Labor Day and ends early to mid-May. Sacramental meetings, events, and summer camps, missions, and leadership conferences round out the current offering.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Confirmation and High School Ministry (HSM):
    • Programs and curriculum,
    • Retreats, missions, Bible study and events,
    • Special events (Lock-ins, socials, etc.), and
    • Service projects.
  • Manage the High School Ministry program and Confirmation Core volunteer team – recruit, manage and mentor this team.
  • Maintain open and regular communications with volunteers, Core team, families and program participants.
  • Implementation of initiation sacraments for teens (Confirmation, as well as catch-up sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist as needed).
  • Work collaboratively with youth ministry and faith formation staff on communications, calendaring, and scheduling of space.
  • Ensure compliance of youth ministry team with Archdiocesan policies regarding background screening and safe environment.
  • Execute programs in compliance with Archdiocesan safe environment policies.
  • Implement VIRTUS Child Safety training for Confirmation and High School Ministry.
  • Seek opportunities for personal educational and spiritual growth. Stay current on trends regarding teens today.
  • Support other parish- and family-centered activities as required
  • Relational ministry with teens
  • Attend teens’ non-church activities/extracurricular events, such as sporting events, band concerts, drama shows, etc.
  • Administrative responsibilities for Confirmation and High School programs and events (including High School retreats and High School Summer Retreats):
    • Maintain, update and use all relevant databases/parish tools, FlockNote, Raisers Edge, ESpace, Learning Stream, website, etc. in a timely manner.
    • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and track expenditures against budget.
    • Book buses and venues for events and camps.
    • Manage Event and program registration, including management of registrations.
    • Maintain necessary office and program records for Confirmation and HSM (rosters, student and volunteer participation, Raisers Edge, sacramental records, sacramental follow up with other churches, student records for sacrament and program participation.
    • Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and department meetings.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Baptized, confirmed and active member of the Roman Catholic Church
  • Faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium
  • Youth ministry experience in a Catholic parish
  • Experience with and basic understanding of high school youth and Confirmation models of catechesis
  • Possessing of, or working toward, catechist certification in Life Teen or Youth Ministry from the Archdiocese of Atlanta
  • Possessing or working towards Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Strong computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, email platform and database management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills

  • Frequency of roles and duties listed above varies depending upon events and needs as they arise.
  • Travel required during summer months for mission trips, leadership conferences, and other youth events.
  • Nights and weekend hours are required for this position

Sacristan Assistant for Baptisms and Weddings

The Sacristan Assistant is a part-time role reporting to the Sacristan. This position is responsible for the set-up and take down of baptism and wedding liturgies each Saturday, including the organization and placement of altar vessels, linens, furniture, and other liturgical necessities. This position works from 8:30 AM through the last wedding, as late as 7:30 PM, with intervals and breaks throughout the day.

■ Commitment to and knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and worship
■ Availability to carry out responsibilities on weekends
■ Strong organizational skills

Parish School of Religion Administrative Assistant

The PSR Administrative Assistant is a full-time (40 hours/week) position that requires Sunday hours during the school year and some evening/Saturday hours. This position assists the Associate Director of Family and Children’s ministries with all aspects of administrative management and program coordination/execution (PSR, Sacrament Preparation, Vacation Bible School (VBS), Children’s Liturgy of the Word, Gospel Dramas, Baptism Classes, Life of the Parish Events, and Sunday morning Nursery). This position reports to the Associate Director, Family and Children’s ministries.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for communicating with families regarding sacramental records, scheduling of baptism classes, student make up work and other topics as needed.
  • Collaborates on and creates materials, lesson plans, activities, resources, crafts and communications with volunteers regarding resources in support of ongoing programming.
  • Collaborates and compiles materials and participant packets in support of parent and volunteer classes, meetings and sacramental celebrations.
  • Responsible for communicating with Priests/Other Parishes regarding Sacramental celebrations.
  • Responsible for organizing of student and catechist supplies, books and materials for various programs including PSR and VBS.
  • Responsible for data input and reporting into and out of various systems including Excel, MS Access, Learning Stream, ESpace, Raiser’s Edge, and Google docs.
  • Able to step in to teach classes and lead program modules when necessary.
  • Assist in volunteer recruitment to support programs.
  • Respond to in person, phone call and email inquiries regarding programming (PSR/VBS/Baptisms, other).
  • Provide visitors with accurate information about ministry activities.
  • Manage inventories of office supplies and reorders to support Religious Education programming.
  • Attend department and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Assist other CTK personnel and clergy as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Active member of Cathedral of Christ the King.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Prior Catechist experience strongly encouraged.
  • Familiarity with age appropriate techniques, tools and resources.
  • Experience in managing volunteers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Access, Word & Excel), email platform and database management.
