The Cathedral of Christ the King (CTK) is a thriving parish serving over 6,500 families in Atlanta, GA.  The Cathedral was founded in 1936 and became the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Atlanta in 1956.  Currently, Christ the King serves its parish community through three daily weekday masses, nine weekend masses, and over 100 ministries.

This full-time role provides a wide range of administrative support to Advancement, Adult Faith Formation and Outreach/Parish Life ministries at Christ the King.

Primary Responsibilities:

Advancement

  • Supports the annual Stewardship Campaign by sending out pledge acknowledgement letters, stocking pews as needed and other as needed
  • Creates and mails new parishioner welcome packets weekly; provides Parish Engagement Coordinator contact information for weekly welcome calls
  • Supports the distribution of annual year-end giving statements
  • Provides support to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal by helping to organize the appeal, set up signage, manage pew supplies during appeal
  • Monitoring pew QR codes for security and quality

Adult Faith Formation

  • Assists with sacramental records and notifications
  • Assists with tracking of OCIA candidates throughout the process
  • Provide hands-on support for OCIA retreats, various Rites and the Easter Vigil

Outreach/Parish Life

  • Provides administrative support for bible studies – primarily during the kickoff
  • Helps organize and set up for Outreach events such as MUST summer lunch, sandwich-making
  • Help coordinate staff Adopt-a-Family prior to event and hands-on support the day of drop off
  • Assist Recreation during registrations and provide communications support
  • Assist with REC/After School programs/Summer Camps as needed

Other

  • Assist with submission of content for website, social media, weekly emails, bulletin, etc.
  • Creates Flocknote emails as requested
  • Provides hands-on support to events throughout the year, including but not limited to Donor Appreciation events, Missions, Parish Wide Events, Penance Evenings.
  • Inventories and orders supplies, such as paper, envelopes, letterhead, notebooks, name tags, throughout the year for all supported ministries
  • Files and organizes as necessary
  • Attend staff meetings and others as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Team work and collaboration
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, work independently and meet deadlines
  • Must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church and have an understanding of liturgical tradition and laws as well as an awareness of current customs and trends

This role oversees and directs all liturgical movement, collaborating with the rector, priests, archbishop, auxiliary bishops, and Director of Music and Liturgy. Particular attention on altar servers, ensuring that proper decorum and ceremonial style is observed at weekend Masses.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and promote the formation of all liturgical ministers of the Cathedral parish, including: altar servers, ushers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, readers
  • Oversee schedule of liturgical ministers through designated software, Ministry Scheduler Pro
  • Schedule and conduct altar server training
  • Organize rehearsals prior to major liturgies (i.e. Holy Week)
  • Oversee and assist Mass leaders and sacristans in organizing and preparing for Mass
  • Work collaboratively with Episcopal Master of Ceremonies when the Archbishop is present
  • Assist as primary Master of Ceremonies for special liturgies presided over by auxiliary bishops
  • Liaison with visiting clergy to inform of the liturgical practices of the Cathedral
  • Participate in weekly clergy meeting on Wednesdays at 10:30 am
  • Attend staff, liturgy and department meetings
  • Attend other meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Sacristan Assistant for Baptisms and Weddings

The Sacristan Assistant is a part-time role reporting to the Sacristan. This position is responsible for the set-up and take down of baptism and wedding liturgies each Saturday, including the organization and placement of altar vessels, linens, furniture, and other liturgical necessities. This position works from 8:30 AM through the last wedding, as late as 7:30 PM, with intervals and breaks throughout the day.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Commitment to and knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy and worship
  • Availability to carry out responsibilities on weekends
  • Strong organizational skills

The PSR Administrative Assistant can be a part-time or full-time (40 hours/week) position that requires Sunday hours during the school year and some evening/Saturday hours. This position assists the Director of Religious Education with all aspects of administrative management and program coordination/execution (Parish School of Religion (PSR), Sacrament Preparation, Vacation Bible School (VBS), Children’s Liturgy of the Word, Gospel Dramas, Baptism Classes, Life of the Parish Events, and Sunday morning Nursery). This position reports to the Director, Religious Education.

Primary Responsibilities:
■ Responsible for communicating with families regarding sacramental records, scheduling of baptism classes, student make up work and other topics as needed.
■ Collaborates on and creates materials, lesson plans, activities, resources, crafts and communications with volunteers regarding resources in support of ongoing programming.
■ Collaborates and compiles materials and participant packets in support of parent and volunteer classes, meetings and sacramental celebrations.
■ Responsible for communicating with Priests/Other Parishes regarding Sacramental celebrations.
■ Responsible for organizing of student and catechist supplies, books and materials for various programs including PSR and VBS.
■ Responsible for data input and reporting into and out of various systems including Excel, MS Access, Learning Stream, ESpace, Raiser’s Edge, and Google docs.
■ Able to step in to teach classes and lead program modules when necessary.
■ Assist in volunteer recruitment to support programs.
■ Respond to in person, phone call and email inquiries regarding programming (PSR/VBS/Baptisms, other).
■ Provide visitors with accurate information about ministry activities.
■ Manage inventories of office supplies and reorders to support Religious Education programming.
■ Attend department and staff meetings as scheduled.
■ Assist other CTK personnel and clergy as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
■ Active member of Cathedral of Christ the King.
■ College degree preferred.
■ Prior Catechist experience strongly encouraged.
■ Familiarity with age appropriate techniques, tools and resources.
■ Experience in managing volunteers.
■ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
■ Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
■ Strong computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Access, Word & Excel), email platform and database management.
