Karate
Pre-K – 8th Grade, Teens & Adults, and Family Classes
Atlanta Family Karate LLC offers a traditional Shido-kan Karate which originated more than 600 years ago from the islands of Okinawa, Japan. As a non-competitive sport, everyone can benefit from karate, regardless of age, physical size and strength and athletic ability. No previous training is necessary; beginner students may start at any time during a session. A full curriculum is taught advancing to the level of Jr. Black Belt (up to age 13) and Adult Black Belt (age 14 +).
Every student is encouraged to give their full effort, with individualized instruction to help them achieve their personal best. Classes promote focus, concentration and discipline which carry over into academic study. In additional to all the fundamentals of Shido-kan Karate (leg & hand techniques, stances, Kata) all classes include partner drills, light-contact sparring techniques (youth) and age-appropriate self-defense techniques. Throwing and Take-Down techniqures are included in Teen/Adult and Family Classes, and for more advanced youth.
Shido-kan Karate classes cultivate:
Self-Control * Modesty * Integrity * Perseverance * Positive-Thinking
